Tarekat Naqsyabandi Haqqani: Peranan dan Pengaruhnya terhadap Masyarakat Kontemporer Kota Padang

Abstract

This article analyzes the development of the Naqsyabandi Haqqani Order in Padang City in contemporary times. The Tarekat shows its role and influence on religious changes in the community, especially when they are faced with the challenges of modernity and community anxiety due to natural disasters in the form of earthquakes in 2005 and 2010 that hit the people of Padang City. Such a situation has made the Naqsyabandi Haqqani Order a medium for restoring religious spiritual spirit followed by various levels of society and socio-religious groups despite opposition from fundamentalist-puritanical groups. This research is focused on how the development and role of Tarekat Naqsyabandi Haqqani, and why this tarekat affects the religious changes of urban communities in Padang? The research was conducted with a qualitative method of field observation with a socio-religious approach and descriptive-analytical writing, which in this article is concluded: First, Tarekat Naqsyabandi Haqqani develops and evokes and teaches spirituality and develops Sufistic religious activities for the people of Padang City. Second, Tarekat Naqsyabandi Haqqani affects the religious changes of the people of Padang City, which is shown in the tendency of religious patterns: reactualization, respiritualization and reconstruction
